Outdoor Wednesday: Carny!

Outdoor Wednesday is hosted by Susan at A Southern Daydreamer. To see many, many more outdoor photos or to post some of your own, please visit her blog.

One of my childhood ambitions was to join a carnival or circus. My ideal job, at the age of seven or eight, would have been sailing through the air on the flying trapeze, handing out the prizes at the shooting gallery, or barking a sideshow. Every spring, one of our local malls turns a section of its parking lot over to a traveling carnival show. M and I have walked around it once or twice in the past, but when it made its appearance this year, we were both attracted by the Ferris wheel. And the weather over the weekend was so glorious, we just couldn't resist. We arrived in the middle of the afternoon, and the place was a little deserted. But by the time we left an hour or so later, it was beginning to fill up very quickly. We rode the Ferris wheel, passed up all the junk food, and took lots of colorful photos. And got to feel like kids again.

  1. Fun! Well, except for the scary merry-go-round -- those horses always felt so high! It looks like a gorgeous day though and what a fun thing to do!

  2. I love merry-go-rounds. The kids laugh at me...but then I cringe when they go for the roller coasters.

  3. Ah, to be young again. Your photos brought back memories of the county fair we always attended when I was growing up.

  4. I absolutely love merry go rounds! when I went to my cousin's wedding in Spokane last September there was a fabulous historical merry go round there that I fell in love with. I also like the ferris wheels because of the views you get when up that high.

Glad you had fun and let your inner child out!
