SkyWatch Friday: Playing Chase

Another shot from our front porch, taken last fall.  I thought it looked a little like the clouds were trying to reach out and capture that tiny sliver of a moon. (Click on image to enlarge.)

Blue Monday: One More Christmas Wrap-Up

Blue Monday is hosted weekly by Smiling Sally.
To see more offerings, or to participate yourself, please head on over to her blog.

Christmas just seems to be hanging around a long time this year.  Even though we UN-decorated right after the first of January, I'm still putting stuff away.  Still have the Christmas cards to sort through and store  (I always save the cards -- at least for a year or two...or twenty).

And today I'm playing with my Christmas presents.  I asked for (and got) crafty stuff this year, and these are my main treasures -- a Scotch Thermal Laminator and a Cinch binding machine!

Wonderful things!  I've wanted the laminator for years now, and kept talking myself out of it.  Love to laminate, but just never had space for it before (the new house has a craft room!).  Yeah, I know -- the laminator has not a spot of blue on it -- what can I say?  Hmmmmm.  Well, the candles are blue, but they weren't Christmas gifts -- they were just there on the table.

And I love, love, love the Cinch!  Even though I really haven't used it yet!  I've played with it, though, and I can tell we're destined for a beautiful friendship.  And isn't that a lovely blue trim? See, there's blue in this post after all!

OK, here's another shot of the Cinch.  I am soooo in love.

Anyway, hope everyone has a great Blue Monday.  I know I'm a little late getting this up, but I've been having too much fun playing with my toys.

REDNESDAY: 9 January 2013

I haven't done a REDNESDAY post in a VERY long time, but I'm feeling very reddish today! Also never really did any Christmas posting this year -- the time just got away from me.  So here's a shot of my nutcracker collection (some of it!) adorning our fireplace this year. Lots of red on all the little guys.  (Click on images to enlarge.)

The print over the fireplace isn't very Christmas-y, I know (or very red) -- it stays there year-round.

This guy is one of my favorites.  I believe he's meant to be a king of some sort, but I always think of him as the Drum Major.

And now, after un-decorating and de-Christmas-ing, this is the only holiday-ish item we still have around the house.  Still looks pretty cheery, though.  And very RED-ish!

Outdoor Wednesday: Rivals

We get a lot of deer around our place, but generally there's only one buck in each group (family? herd? gaggle?).  Recently, though, these two guys showed up together.  And if you look VERY closely towards the middle of the photo, you can see what they were interested in -- there's a very cute little lady deer there, playing hard to get.

Outdoor Wednesday is hosted by Susan @ A Southern Daydreamer.
