Blue Monday: Morning Blues

Blue Monday is hosted weekly by Smiling Sally.
To see more offerings, or to participate yourself, please head on over to her blog.

When I was a little girl I loved the morning glories in my grandmother's garden.  I always tried to get out as early as possible to see them right after the blooms opened up in the morning.  Ever since then I've wanted to plant morning glories in a garden of my own, but never got the chance until this year.  Earlier in the summer we planted some morning glories in our back garden, and they finally started blooming at the end of August.

With the drought here in central Texas, I suppose they might not be with us much longer, but right now they're doing fine.  I still love getting out there in the early morning hours to see the fresh blooms.  And although I sort of wish I'd chosen a little brighter color, I'm definitely loving this delicate shade of blue.

  1. Hi Joy

Your morning glory flowers were so irresistible that I've joined your blog as a follower - do let us know how they go in the drought. We have come out of our drought in Melbourne, Australia (in a big way with a really wet winter!) but I remember how it was with all the water saving.

Good luck with keeping your Morning Glory flowers blooming for a lovely long time

    1. Hi, Wren! Thanks so much for becoming a follower. Glad your drought is over. Ours is probably going to be with us for a while longer. And even though I really hate rain, I'd love to see a few wet days now and then.

      Happy Blue Monday!

  2. Seems like the prettiest Morning Glory I've ever seen. I've always wanted to plant a Morning Glory vine too. I can only do container gardening. I'll bet it would grow in a pot too, but I would have to start it from seed. I'm not good at seed starting.

    1. Thank you! Yes, I liked this color right away. I'm pretty sure you could grow a morning glory vine in a container -- the roots really don't need much space. These were started from seeds, and they came up without any special attention. You should definitely try it!

      Happy Blue Monday!
