ABC Wednesday: "G" is for...

Today's theme is "Go Green," which is great because that happens to be my favorite color. And "G" is for garden too, and I do love gardens -- even though I'm not much of a gardener myself, I love to spend time in all those wonderful gardens created by other talented, generous people.

One of my favorite public gardens is Green Spring Gardens, near where we used to live in Alexandria VA. It's a beautiful place to visit any season of the year. Here are a few shots I took a couple of summers ago:

But we live in Texas now, and the gardens around here are not quite so lush. Here's a shot of a more typical garden from our area:

And, finally, here's a shot taken in a friend's vegetable garden, complete with cactus, garden hose and garden cat:

  1. I love green landscapes and gardens. Unfortunately for me here in NorCal it's only green for about four months out of the year. Beautiful shots you've posted for G!

  3. Gardening is a love of mine and the lush pictures are so pretty. Sorry that our extreme heat and drought of 90 days this year has not been so good for our gardens.Ann

  4. Interesting to see different plants for different climates. I always admire gardeners that can grow anywhere. Green fingers is something I did not inherit.

  7. I am surprised anything is growing anywhere with the heat we have had and, apparently, are still having. Our little garden looks ok except Allen hasn't been able to get out and work it in for several weeks because of the mosquito issue and THE VINE is taking over everything. I should take a picture -- no drought will do away with whatever this vine is.

  8. Ah, you DID move! I bet you miss VA--at least now when there's no snow!
