White Wednesday #62
Old white gloves and lace hankie. The gloves are from the 1950s and were sold by Sears. Don't know the exact age of the handkerchief, but I've had it since the late 1960s and it was old when I got it. I carried it at my wedding as my "something old." I've never worn the gloves; I acquired them more recently, at a local thrift shop. I have a small collection of gloves from the 1950s and '60s, and if they didn't make my hands itch, I'd still be wearing them!

A few years ago I was hooked on old white gloves-I bought sooooo many pairs-I once saw in a magazine where they used them as a window valance and hung them at different heights!
ReplyDeleteMe too, I never pass up a good white glove.
ReplyDeleteUsually that is all I can find, just one.
But i will always take it to add to the collection
So sweet

I haven't seen gloves like this in a long time. It's been even longer since I've seen a ladies handkerchief like this.
ReplyDeleteJust lovely....

White gloves! I had to buy some a couple of years ago for our DAR White Glove Luncheon and you can't believe how difficult they are to find. Had to mail order and overnight and the shipping was about ten times the cost of the gloves!
ReplyDeleteI think you probably got the hankie from MaMa or Linnie -- MaMa gave me an old one as well when I got married. Did I carry it? Don't have a clue.
Yeah, I would probably wear gloves too -- in this day of hand sanitizer but then, I still think women should wear stockings -- what do I know?
