Random Photo Monday: More Snaps from Shenandoah

Just a few more photos from our recent foray into the wilds of Shenandoah National Park.

The mountain laurel was just past its peak at this time of year, but still pretty impressive.

This time we managed to complete one of the more picturesque hikes – down, down the mountain to see Dark Hollow Falls. The falls aren't actually all that spectacular, as waterfalls go, but the surroundings certainly are. And it's a fairly strenuous hike for someone not used to climbing – the trip down isn't so bad, but going back it's uphill all the way!

A portion of the falls, about midway down.
Kayla again (my travel doll) at the bottom of the falls with her human companion.
Just a reminder – as if I needed it.

  2. Opps, didn't finish. Really gorgeous area though and I think the falls are lovely -- don't look dangerous but I guess you never know.

  4. Joy, these are beautiful photos! Where exactly are you in VA? I live in the Roanoke area.

I like the idea of having a travel doll! Very cute. Do you scrapbook her adventures?

Actually, I think the deer ticks are probably more dangerous than the falls or the bears!

Thanks for stopping by. I've never spent much time in PA, but would like to see a little more of it - my grandfather's family was from Scranton, so I feel like I've got a little bit of Pennsylvania in me.

Thanks for the kind words. We live in Alexandria, just outside DC. Well, I haven't really been scrap-booking Kayla's adventures, but I probably should - she's a well-traveled doll!
