Blue Monday: Sand Dollar Ornament
Whenever we travel, I like to bring back small souvenirs that I can use as Christmas tree ornaments. That way, I get to relive the trip once a year when we pull out all the Christmas decorations. Last August, on our annual visit to Rehoboth Beach DE, I bought this memento at the Christmas shop there. These are made from real sand dollars that wash up on the beach, so they're very fragile. Which means, of course, that this is one ornament that may not be around too long (OK, I admit it – I'm a klutz). So I thought I'd better take a photo right away, to remember it by!

I like to bring things into my home that remind me of places I've visited too.

I love that ornament, Joy! I have some a friend of mine made, and I'm always so cautious with them because they're delicate. I particularly love the dolphins on these. I love to see them swim in the bay at St. Augustine! :-)

I do the same thing, Joy... One of the prettiest ornaments was one that we got while visiting Williamsburg. Lots of memories!!!!

ReplyDeleteI have broken countless ornaments, which is why I won't buy any that cost a lot of money.
As Betsy said, we try to find ornaments on our trips as well. Our Christmas tree doubles as a memory tree.
